Grilled Goodness at Yatai on Gourmet Street

If you're craving authentic Japanese street food, Yatai on Gourmet Street at Lalaport is an absolute gem. The moment you step up to the stall, you're greeted by the sizzle of hot grills and the inviting aroma of traditional Japanese favourites. The lively atmosphere of Gourmet Street only enhances the experience, making you feel like you're wandering through the vibrant alleys of Japan itself. 🇯🇵✨

I started with the takoyaki, and while I’ve had this dish many times, Yatai’s version was grilled to perfection with a slight sweetness I’d never tasted before. The crispy exterior paired with a soft centre made for a delightful and unique twist on the classic takoyaki. 🐙✨

Next, the grilled salmon with garlic cheese was a real treat. The creamy, garlicky cheese paired beautifully with the smoky, perfectly grilled salmon, making each bite rich and satisfying. This fusion of flavours added a gourmet twist to the classic grilled fish. 🍣🧄

The grilled Japanese omelette (tamagoyaki) was fluffy, slightly sweet, and melted in my mouth, while the teriyaki gizzards were another highlight—chewy and coated in a savoury glaze that added an unexpected depth of flavour. To round off the experience, I grabbed a cold Kirin Ichiban from their vending machine, though a refreshing sake is also an excellent option. Enjoying it while seated at the outdoor stool tables, watching the world go by, really enhanced the laid-back, authentic vibe of the place. 🍶🍺
